March April Post

Apologies for the lack of posts during the past 3 months.  The good news is that we have been sending out email blasts to keep you all apprised of SIS activities, especially our continuing efforts to plan our next Conference.  Here’s a brief rundown of what has been happening:

We reached out via email and also to some former SIS Conference planners and the respondents have agreed to serve as an informal group of “SIS Supporters”  We welcome a more formal name, but are avoiding the usual AA organization titles because we continue to be an independent , non-affiliated entity – at least for now.  Many of us agree that keeping SIS alive is worthwhile, regardless of names or titles.

After discussion among some of our supporters, two preliminary planning groups have formed, one in Reno, NV for a 2019 Conference and a second in San Francisco for 2021.  Since the AA International Conference is scheduled for 2020 in early summer of 2020, we unilaterally decided not to attempt one in 2020.  We trust that you all agree with this thinking.  If not, please let us know.

We encourage any of you who have been involved with conference planning, SIS or otherwise, to connect with our new planning committees to volunteer your expertise, suggestions, and time if you wish to.

There are a number of conference planning documents available now, including job descriptions, calendars, meeting minutes, financials, and many other valuable tools that will help with planning.  We also have this website which is still alive and continues to be our central repository of information about SIS and meeting schedules.

Please spread the word to your friends and group members. We will keep you all informed on the website and also via email as the plans solidify.

In Love and Service,

Colin M. – Webservant
